What Is The LOGOS System?

The LOGOS Program is the theology and practice of Christian relationships in a disciplined, mid-week, four-part context.

Everything in our experience and common life has to do with God and our relationships.  When we say the LOGOS Program is theology, we are asserting that young people, children and adults, interacting with one another are involved in experiencing, not just hearing about,

Ö Who God is.
Ö What God is like.
Ö What God wants.
Ö What difference it makes.
Ö Who we are.
Ö What is the meaning and purpose of everything.

Through scripture, we come to know that to God, relationships are everything; our personal relationship with God and the relationships we have with one another.

In the context of the definition, discipline means structure, striving for excellence, commitment, and expectations, using time-energy-and gifts to produce excellence. Excellence is not accomplished in anything without discipline. Discipline marks out boundaries, which give us security with which we can grow. The higher the expectations, the higher the performance.

Mid-week provides a mid-week lift and renewal through quality Christian experiences.  Middle of the week has challenges too; sports, band, dance, etc. Such choices force us to make some decisions that are counter-culture, but if we believe that the Christian Nurture of our young people is the most important thing we do as a church, and then those choices must by made.  It is a challenge to put first things first, for Christ’s sake.

The arena for Christian nurture is made up of four equally important experiences in which every young person participates each LOGOS session. Bible study, Family Time (Dinner), Recreation and Worship Skills combine to provide a contemporary spiritual context within which young people and adults are nurtured through the theology and practice of Christian relationships.

LOGOS is a quality program in which faith is "caught as well as taught." It will help to bring you and your children into a right relationship with God.

The FOUR Parts of the LOGOS Program

BIBLE STUDY: The Bible hour is the "Heart of the LOGOS Program." The goal is to nurture our children and young people into intelligent obedient, Biblically-informed discipleship.

FAMILY TIME (DINNER): Family Time is the one period in which all LOGOS participants are together. This intergenerational celebration gives an opportunity for all to experience being a part of the family of God. Dinner is served family style giving everyone the opportunity to serve one another. A caring environment is created at each table as table members share important events in their lives and enjoy time together.

RECREATION: The goal of recreation is to experience great fun at the expense of no one else. Crazy games that get everyone moving and laughing allow athletes and non-athletes an equal chance for fun. Relationships are developed as children and adults reveal themselves in play, learn to appreciate a variety of talents, share the joy, and experience God's gift of recreation for the sole purpose of fun.

WORSHIP SKILLS (CHOIR): The experience of worship is at the center of our life together as a Christian community. To develop responsibility for and practice in worship skills is paramount. Worship is the basic form of Christian service that informs and motivates all other kinds of serving. The active participation of children and youth in worship benefits the entire congregation.

Our Commitment

The skeletal strength of the LOGOS Program is provided by taking seriously several commitments which we call the "bones" of the Program. Without them, the Program becomes weak and does not accomplish the goals which we have set for ourselves. We are committed to keeping these bones in place:

  • Everyone participates in all four parts every week.
  • Everyone attends congregational worship every week.
  • The pastor will participate and provide leadership in the program.
  •  An adult family member will make a commitment to attending the annual Parent's Meeting and to offering their gifts in service to support the program.
  • The program will be offered midweek.
  • There will be financial participation by families.
  • The program will be offered to High School youth.
  • People will be called to ministry according their gifts.
